Other QEW Outreach work

FINCA LA BELLA (“The Beautiful Farm)—This project, under the care of QEW’s Ann Kriebel/San Luis Committee, promotes our vision of eco-justice and serves as a kind of “laboratory” to better understand the challenges of sustainable farming and community living. This 122-acre tract in the San Luis Valley near the Quaker community in Monteverde, Costa, Rica, was purchased in the 1990s by Quaker funds and is farmed by 24 formerly landless families. The parcel holders, or “parceleros,” agree to work cooperatively and to move toward farming sustainably. Occasional work-camps there provide a rich experience in international cooperation.
